We just wrapped up a jam-packed weekend with track and field taking place in Eugene with the NCAA Championships, Portland for the Portland Track Festival, Rome for the European Championships and New York City for the NYC Grand Prix.
NYC GRAND PRIX
Lots of action to recap including Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone giving the 400m American record a scare; Noah Lyles clocked a 19.77 into the wind, Eric Holt goes viral after taking 2022 world champion Jake Wightman to the line in the 1500m, Elaine Thompson Herah may be seriously injured after pulling up after the 100m. But the biggest story was 2022 World champion Fred Kerley and his sponsor Asics decided to part ways. Kerley came out onto the track wearing a competitor's product. Kerley did not end up racing after slipping in the blocks twice. He was not disqualified but elected not to race.
NCAA Championships
From McKenzie Long and Parker Valby to Shane Cohen and Parker Wolfe, we look at some of the collegiate stars who could be poised for a breakthrough to make the U.S. Olympic team in just a few weeks.

I’m excited to share the recording from my live show in New York City this past Saturday with reigning world 1500m champion Jake Wightman of Great Britain. This past summer Jake pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year, taking down Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen to capture his first world title. Jake, who is 28 years old and a native of Scotland, is also a Commonwealth Games and European Championships medalist, as well as a three-time champion at the 5th Avenue Mile in New York.
In this conversation, we talked about the world 1500m final and the tactics he used to take the win. Jake told me about what it was like to come off the high of that world title and still having to race in the Commonwealth Games and European Championships in the weeks that came after it. We discussed pressure as a privilege, what it’s like going into races now as a favorite rather than an underdog, and how he’s learned to appreciate his accomplishments over the years. Jake also talked about growing up as the son of two accomplished runners, being coached by his dad and the dynamics of their relationship, and a lot more.
This episode is brought to you by:

It’s a next-level racing shoe with a carbon fiber plate and plenty of lightweight foam underfoot for a cushioned yet responsive ride. Jake Wightman made running history at the 2020 Monaco Diamond League. On that starry night in August, 26-year-old Wightman snuck under the 3:30 barrier over 1500, clocking 3:29.47. Surpassing the likes of Seb Coe, Steve Ovett and Steve Cram, now only Mo Farah sits above him on the UK all-time list; Jake Wightman has arrived. With a 1:44 800m to his name, Wightman possesses the speed needed to succeed at the top level. We caught up with Jake and chatted about pretty much everything we could muster; from his altitude training to a hypothetical boxing match against Stewart McSweyn.....

On today's podcast we are joined by Jake Wightman. We speak about the 2020 season and touch on some topics outside of the sport. Such as: who his least favourite Scottish teammate is ;)
