I Won ANOTHER World Title | Race Highlights | Josh Kerr

    Josh Kerr

I wanted this one bad. We arrived in Poland with one goal: Win ANOTHER World Championship. During championship weekend I ground myself in consistency. I have the same routines and the same team around me. In this episode we give you an inside look at our runs leading up to the Final and the banter that surrounds it. Everything is familiar. No changes, no overthinking, just trust in the work that got me here. That’s where confidence stems from. By the time I step on the track there’s nothing left to figure out. When the moment comes, it’s simple. Execute. And this time, I did. I am the World Champion.

How WORLD CHAMPION Josh Kerr Plans to Break a 30-Year World Record With a 3:42 Mile — Project 222, Custom Spikes, and the Mindset Behind History's Boldest Attempt

    April 3, 2026

He said it was his to lose. Then he went out and made sure of it.

Josh Kerr is back on The Running Effect, and this time he's not limping off a global stage. He's walking out of Toruń with gold, and already calling his next shot.

At the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships, Kerr reclaimed the 3000m title he first won two years ago in Glasgow. He ran a 7:35.56, the second-fastest winning time in World Indoor Championships history.

February brought his return: a 2-mile against Cole Hocker at Millrose, a second-place finish that felt more like reconnaissance than defeat. He knew what was coming.

Before Toruń, he called the title his to lose. On March 21, he backed it up, settling patiently, surging at the bell, making himself the target, and winning by 0.14 seconds.

Now the next target is on the clock.

Project 222. On July 18 at the London Diamond League, Kerr will attempt to break Hicham El Guerrouj's mile world record of 3:43.13, a mark that has stood since 1999. The goal: 222 seconds flat. A 3:42 mile. His current PB of 3:45.34 is the British record and sixth all-time. Two seconds separates him from history.

Project 222: Josh Kerr's Plan to Run A 3:42 Mile And Break The World Record

    CITIUS MAG

World champion Josh Kerr will attempt to break the mile world record of 3:43.13, set by Hicham El Guerrouj in 1999, at the London Diamond League on July 18, 2026. Kerr and his longtime sponsor Brooks are calling their shot publicly, dubbing the attempt "Project 222"—a reference to his goal of running the mile in 222 seconds (3:42). Kerr’s current PB, 3:45.34, is the British national record and slots him No. 6 on the all-time list. Entering the outdoor season, he’s coming off of winning his second World Indoor Championships gold medal in the 3000m, having held off a late charge from 1500m Olympic champion and 5000m World champion Cole Hocker in Toruń, Poland. Brooks is going all-in for Kerr, with fully personalized race-day support, including: – A custom spike—expected to comply with all World Athletics guidelines—built around Kerr's biomechanics, featuring advanced cushioning and a tuned carbon plate system – Three aerodynamic speed suit concepts with Kerr as the sole tester – Physiological support from the Brooks Run Research Lab covering sleep, hydration, and recovery Behind-the-scenes content on Kerr's preparation and the history of the mile will roll out on Kerr’s and Brooks's channels ahead of the July 18 attempt. WORLD INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS: DAY 2 RECAP | LIVE FROM POLAND WITH PREET

    March 21, 2026

Preet Majithia breaks down the biggest moments and surprises from day two at the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland.

A couple of today's highlights include:

    - After getting beaten by Cole Hocker in his first race of the season at the Millrose Games two mile, Josh Kerr has the last laugh by outkicking Hocker and the field to win his third global title and second in the 3000m, running 7:35.56 ahead of Hocker’s 7:35.70.

    - Nadia Battocletti finally got her golden moment in the 3000m, as the Italian used a 28.54 final lap to outkick Jessica Hull with Battocletti claiming her fourth global medal in 8:57.64.

    - Khaleb McRae led for about 390 meters of the 400m final, but it wasn’t quite enough to hold off the late charge of Christopher Morales Williams, who closed best to win in a championship-record of 44.76.

    - Lurdes Gloria Manuel had only won one 400m so far in 2026 heading into this weekend, but she clocked three straight indoor PBs in the three rounds of racing and won her first global title in 50.76.

This isn’t a race. It’s a fitness check. In this training-day vlog, I take you inside a key session two weeks before Millrose. This workout is designed to simulate my 2-mile WORLD RECORD pace. With 16 days to go, this is the point where we can afford to push and see what happens. This was my 3rd workout back on the track, so the question is simple: am I back to full fitness? You’ll see the full process, from the focus before the first rep to the moments late in the session when the work starts to ask the hard questions. No crowd. No race. Just work. Do we hit the 2-mile world-record splits? The Workout: 600m, (1min rest) 200m, (2mins rest) x 6   (6 mins rest) Progression, 400m   “Well that was easy!”

How Cole Hocker Won the Millrose Games Two-Mile With Perfect Tactics, Pacing

    CITIUS MAG

The pre-race buzz around the men’s two mile centered on whether anyone could challenge Josh Kerr’s world record. When Fisher scratched just hours before the start due to illness, the entire dynamic shifted. Eric Jenkins: “Genuinely the worst news you can get... If one guy scratches from the two mile—you hope it’s literally anyone but Grant Fisher. As soon as Grant Fisher’s out, they go, ‘Well, time’s out the window.’” What unfolded was a tactical chess match that showcased the race IQ of 5000m World champion Cole Hocker. Rather than chasing pacer Ben Allen‘s early hot pace, Hocker sat back and dictated a tempo that was fast enough to hurt but slow enough to preserve his devastating kick—all from the front. Kyle Merber: “Cole sat right off and he didn’t go. He made sure he goes, ‘I am not going to just be the one to go at this insane pace.’ I’m going to sit back. He’s so good at doing just fast enough that no one’s going to go around him, but slow enough that he’s going to have the best kick.” Aisha Praught-Leer: “When you hit that icky in-between pace, it doesn’t feel comfortable, but you see the time on the clock psychologically. If I’m Ethan Strand, I’m thinking like, ‘Hey, we’re going slower than I thought we were, but it still really hurts. I’m uncomfortable. I’m not sure what to do.’ Cole did it right and it started building that doubt in your competitors. It’s a brilliant, brilliant move to do.” Hocker ultimately won in 8:07.31 with Kerr taking second in 8:07.68. Parker Wolfe ran tough for third place in 8:07.83. 3000m steeplechase World champion George Beamish charged to 10th place with 400m to go to 5th after sitting nearly last for much of the race. Extra kudos to pacer Ben Allen, who adjusted his strategy on the fly when Hocker didn’t immediately attach. Kyle Merber: “Ben Allen did such an unbelievable job pacing. He allowed them to settle a little and then cut in and take the pace, which allowed Cole to immediately latch on. At some point, it became clear to him that Cole was not on top of him. He does little look-backs over the shoulder, which is allowed and encouraged if you’re the rabbit, and he stepped out on the turn a little bit, got on the outside of the lane, and slowed it down just a hair—nothing dramatic, but just enough to allow Cole to reattach. Without him, this becomes a totally different 8:15 race.” 🎥 Watch the full post-race show here: https://youtu.be/RWcntefA9PA?si=7s5qBTu-hIefGq7T 🎧 Take it on-the-go and listen to it in podcast form here: ▶️ APPLE PODCASTS: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/2026-millrose-games-post-race-show-live-from-the/id1204506559?i=1000747628064 ▶️ SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7hnfSviJVUsg0blvf0Y0hR?si=4WdLGfq_ShKkajr0Jzbiwg __________ FOLLOW CITIUS MAG ▶ Subscribe to the podcast: https://apple.co/3Byp72I ▶ On Twitter: http://twitter.com/CitiusMag ▶ On Instagram: http://instagram.com/citiusmag ▶ On Facebook: http://facebook.com/citiusmag ▶ Support us on Patreon: https://patreon.com/citiusmag ▶ On our website: http://citiusmag.com For other inquiries, contact us: chris@citiusmag.com Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, and subscribe!
