From Carleton to University of Minnesota to the 2024 Paris Olympics, Matt Wilkinson had quite the journey to become an Olympian.
The 2x D3 Champ rejoins the podcast to breakdown his 2nd place Olympic Trials finish, shares details of the Olympic village, and how he's handling the Olympian status.
It was a whirlwind few months for Matt as he went overseas to prepare for the Olympics, ran in a few Diamond League Races, and realized he's living out his dreams.
Matt took confidence in his training after just 1 year with Under Armour Mission Dark Sky and is ready to see what else he can accomplish.

Today on the podcast is newly minted Olympian Matt Wilkinson!
Matt crossed the line in second, finishing in 8:23.00, securing his Olympic spot for Team USA.
Matt was the race leader through six laps before Kenneth Rooks made his move to the front with 800 meters remaining. Those two pulled away from the rest of the pack over the final lap, with Wilkinson turning in the fastest final 400-meters(59.87) in the field.
Matt was a 2xDIII Champion while at Carleton College before ultimately finishing out his college career at the University of Minnesota, where he had a successful career.
Matt runs for Under Armour Mission Run Dark Sky.
In today's conversation, Matt takes me through the emotion of making the Olympics, what it's taken to get to this point in his career, his time in DIII, his hopes for the future, and so much more!

Last time we saw Matt Wilkinson, he was preparing for the D3 National Meet.
Now he's in his first Pro season with Under Armour's Dark Sky team in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Before he got to Flagstaff, he had a few seasons at Minnesota where he swept the Steeple and 5k at the Big 10 conference meet.
He talks about how he's handled each transition from D3 to D1 to Pro and how he's overcoming his imposter syndrome with each race.
With each step in the journey he's embraced his new teammates that he trains with and gains confidence knowing he can hang with them in workouts.
As he prepares for the Olympic Trials, he's excited to see what a full year of training with his UA team can have on his performance.
Matt is running for the long haul. He expects to have a long career that will have him on the roads after track.
