Marco Arop delivered a deceptively dominant performance in the Men’s 800m at Grand Slam Track Kingston, clocking 1:45.13 to win by over a second in windy conditions. The time may not seem spectacular for the 1:41.20 man—but it’s all about context. Arop powered through headwinds, led from the front, and still comfortably dropped Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who finished second (+1.31), and Bryce Hoppel (+1.89). Meanwhile, Olympic 1500m medalists Cole Hocker, Yared Nuguse, and Josh Kerr all struggled—Kerr faded to last in 1:50.68 after battling a lingering hip injury. Despite the loss, Wanyonyi’s second-place finish, combined with his 1500m win on Saturday, earned him the $100,000 Slam Champion title in the Men’s Short Distance event group. Emmanuel Wanyonyi stepped into the spotlight and didn’t blink. In one of the most stacked races of the weekend—featuring the full Olympic 1500m podium of Cole Hocker, Josh Kerr, and Yared Nuguse—it was 19-year-old Wanyonyi, better known for his 800m prowess, who owned the moment. With 40 meters to go, Wanyonyi turned on the jets, taunted his competition, and powered to a massive 3-second personal best of 3:35.18 to beat Nuguse (3:35.36) and Hocker (3:35.52) in an early signature win for both his career and the Grand Slam Track league. This was just his third-ever 1500m—and his first against a world-class field. As a Challenger in the new Grand Slam Track league, Wanyonyi was required to run both the 800m and 1500m. The result? A statement-making victory that may change how the world sees him. 📈 Top Results 🥇 Emmanuel Wanyonyi – 3:35.18 (PB) 🥈 Yared Nuguse – 3:35.36 🥉 Cole Hocker – 3:35.52 4️⃣ Josh Kerr – 3:36.23 FOLLOW CITIUS MAG ▶ Subscribe to the podcast: https://apple.co/3Byp72I ▶ On Twitter: http://twitter.com/CitiusMag ▶ On Instagram: http://instagram.com/citiusmag ▶ On Facebook: http://facebook.com/citiusmag ▶ Support us on Patreon: https://patreon.com/citiusmag ▶ On our website: http://citiusmag.com For other inquiries, contact us: chris@citiusmag.com Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, and subscribe! All the talk hit the track in the Men’s Short Distance 1500m, and it delivered. Billed as one of the unmissable races of Grand Slam Track Kingston, the hype was real. Jason and Kevin discuss Jakob Ingebrigtsen doubling up at the European Indoor Championships, Yared Nuguse missing the mile world record, Richard Kilty retiring, Joshua Cheptegei struggling at the marathon and the concept of a woman breaking four minutes in the mile.

The 2025 U.S. Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta delivered fireworks, with PUMA Elite’s Alex Maier and Taylor Roe claiming national titles and locking in their spots for the World Road Running Championships. Roe’s late-race surge past Weini Kelati underscored Oklahoma State’s pipeline of elite talent.
Meanwhile, indoor track is officially in chaos mode. Heather MacLean ran 4:17.01 for the mile, which also unknowingly broke the U.S. indoor 1500m record. Nico Young continued his meteoric rise, clocking 12:51.56 for 5000m—second-fastest by an American ever. Yared Nuguse chased the mile world record but settled for 3:47.22. Also at BU – Graham Blanks broke 7:30 in the 3K and Aidan McCarthy ran a historic 1:45.19 in the 800m.
With NCAA Indoors, World Indoors, and outdoor season approaching fast, the distance scene is more competitive than ever. Tune in as we break it all done.
Bonus: Harry Styles ran 3:24 for the Tokyo Marathon.

On today’s show: Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo just rewrote the history books, obliterating the world half marathon record by an eye-popping 48 seconds in Barcelona. Meanwhile, Grant Fisher decided one world record wasn’t enough, so he went ahead and took down two in a week—because why not? Also: Jakob Ingebrigtsen is breaking world records, dropping Instagram captions, and casually reminding everyone that he’s still that guy.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen Strikes Back: Reclaims Indoor Mile World Record in Lievin — Just five days after Yared Nuguse set the world indoor mile record, Jakob Ingebrigtsen obliterated it with a 3:45.14 performance in Lievin, France, reclaiming his throne as the fastest miler in history. Along the way, he also shattered his own 1500m world record, becoming the first man to break 3:30 indoors (3:29.63).
Grant Fisher’s Historic Week: Two World Records in Seven Days — Grant Fisher has rewritten the history books, breaking two world records in just one week—the 3,000m at Millrose (7:22.91) and the 5,000m in Boston (12:44.09). This is the most dominant stretch of American distance running ever witnessed indoors.
Jacob Kiplimo Shatters Half Marathon World Record in Barcelona — Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo made history at the eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks, running a staggering 56:42 to obliterate the previous world half marathon record by 48 seconds—the largest single improvement in history. Kiplimo became the first athlete to break 57 minutes, reinforcing his dominance on the roads ahead of his marathon debut in London.
