Disturbing Reality Of Investigating Thousands Of Crime Scenes - Tom Coyle

Disturbing Reality Of Investigating Thousands Of Crime Scenes - Tom Coyle

Today’s episode is not an easy listen, but it is an important one.

Thomas Coyle was a forensic scientist who spent more than 30 years working crime scenes, identifying the dead, and helping families find answers after unimaginable loss.

For his service he was acknowledged in the Kings birthday honours list in 2024. And he has just put a book out called “The Dead Speak.”

Thomas has worked over 20,000 crime scenes. He was part of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami response, the Christchurch earthquakes, and countless murders, suicides, and unexplained deaths across the UK and New Zealand.

This conversation is, at times, gory and shocking. But it is not about gore or shock value.

We talk about what it takes to do this job, what he really thinks of shows like CSI, what death smells like and how he’s learned to live with images that never truly leave.

This is confronting. It’s uncomfortably honest and its unforgettable.

    Listener discretion advised.
