In episode sixty of The Running Effect, I speak with Jeff Merrill. Jeff is the Founder of Tracklandia and current President of Portland Track. Jeff is perhaps best known for his brilliant skills behind the mic as a commentator. In this episode, Jeff and I preview all the big races at this weekend's, "The Track Meet" held by Sound Running. He is a 17-time NCAA champion collegiate distance runner for the University of Oregon. Cheserek was the most highly recruited high school distance runner in the nation out of Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in New Jersey where he was named the Gatorade 2012-2013 National Cross Country Runner of the Year. In 2013, Cheserek became the first freshman in Oregon history to win the NCAA National Cross Country Championships. Cheserek repeated this feat in his sophomore and junior years at Oregon before coming in third in the race in 2016 during his senior year. In total, Cheserek has 17 NCAA National Titles, including two indoor distance medley relays and one cross-country team title.
Joe Klecker is an American long-distance runner. After a successful collegiate career with the Colorado Buffaloes he turned professional in 2020 joining the On Athletics Club coached by Dathan Ritzenhein. Klecker holds personal bests of 3:37.00 for 1500m, 7:34.14 for 3000m, 12:54.99 for 5000m, and 27:07.57 for 10000m, all set as a part of the On Athletics Club.
Raevyn Rogers is an accomplished middle-distance runner from the United States, specializing in the 800 meters. She gained prominence with her college career at the University of Oregon, where she won multiple NCAA titles. Raevyn has continued her success on the international stage, earning a silver medal in the 800 meters at the 2019 World Championships in Doha and a bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Josh Kerr is a renowned British middle-distance runner, specializing in the 1500 meters. He rose to international prominence with a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and has consistently competed at the top level in European and World Championships. Known for his tactical racing and strong finishing kick, Kerr represents Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and continues to be a dominant force on the track.
