First run MetaSpeed Sky Tokyo. ASICS announced a trio of race shoes today, and I had a chance to take the MetaSpeed Sky Tokyo for a first run. It’s a long story but I wasn’t able to get in a full and proper test. Also, I don’t like to discuss too many of my thoughts on a shoe while I am still on the media trip. But, I will say so far that I’ve been having fun so far, and I’ll do some more testing when I return to Crystal Lake. As far as specs go, it’s a 39.5mm stack height shoe with a 5mm drop. It’s a two-foam midsole, with the new FF Leap aTPU foam and FF Turbo Plus. The Sky version gets FF Turbo Plus as the top layer and a generous helping of FF Leap as the bottom layer. Vice versa for the Edge. The upper continues to get better and better on the MetaSpeed series. It feels like this last/upper material combo is the best fitting and least pinky-toe-crunching upper yet. They say it’s the same last as before, but this certainly feels better. . Further testing: I’d like to take this for a long run with some marathon miles. I’d also like to take it for some threshold mile repeats. . Disclosures: I received these shoes from ASICS while in Japan, hosted by ASICS, for the MetaSpeed product launch. They are not paying me to make this video. No one previewed my copy or footage before it published
