5k T New Balance SC Elite v5

5k at threshold effort for my first run in the SC Elite v5. There’s a lot that’s similar about this shoe versus last time, but it’s also been chiseled and sharpened in a few key places that gives the shoe a welcome bit of aggressiveness. The outsole is a throwback to the RC Elite v1, which I did my first test of along this same route in Dyersville, IA. But, I do really wish they could have gone all the way in recreating that unique surface. I’d like to get more of a long run in the shoe to test whether the changes go far enough, but so far I’ve been having fun in the shoe. The 5k T ended up being much faster than I’ve been running 5k T, and could bode quite well for the shoe, but it was a lot cooler today than it has been, and I also tweaked the route to give me an extra 50’ of downhill at the front end of this workout. .
