Last year’s Cloudsurfer was one of my favorite On shoes. For 2025, the midsole gets narrower in the footprint, stiffens up a bit, and get a bit more fitted in the upper. All these changes make for a certainly more On experience. And while I prefer the upper and enjoy how nimble the shoe now is, I miss the relaxed cushion of the prior iteration. . Also, On is trying to address the squeak from their shoes. They’ve added texture and ridges to the interior of the Cloudtec Phase. I think the idea is that, with the added grippiness, the compressed upper and lower layers of the midsole won’t slide against each other.
