Tokyo: Speed: Race. To highlight their athletes and the new race shoes that were just announced, ASICS put on a 5k and 10k race that was designed to break PBs and set national records. Filming a night race is challenging for me, but watching a night race is so much fun. It’s a completely different atmosphere. . Biya Simbassa came away with the men’s American Record in the 10k. Emma Grace Hurley went for the women’s American Recors in the 10k but fell just a handful of seconds short. . Internationally, there were a lot of national and area records set, but there was such of a flurry of fast finishes at this event it was hard to track all the athletes as they came in. I did manage to catch some footage of Tomoki Ota as he broke the Japanese 5k Record, but I wasn’t quite in position to see Izzy Batt Doyle’s Australian 10k Record . Disclosures: asics hosted me on this trip to cover a shoe launch and this race. No one is paying me to make this race recap video. No one previewed it before publishing. No brands are tagged. No hashtags used.
