Strong hips, strong feet and a strong foot-hip connection are all reasons to include a MOBO board in your strength training. It doesn’t have to take long either.

Sometimes I’ll use these exercises for a light and quick strength session. A lot of the time I’ll do some of the exercises as part of my warm-up routine for a run or strength session.

The MOBO board website is also a great resource for exercises as well as info on where to place the fins. For instance, I often place the fins on the odd slots to work more on my shin muscles that help anchor my big toe because that’s what I need to work on. The even slots target more of your foot muscles.

I was lucky enough to take Jay Dicharry’s (sports physiologist, biomechanics expert, and creator of the MOBO board) Running Rewired course for both sports clinicians and coaches a few years ago. I still remember his saying “feel stable, then go run.” To feel stable you need your feet and hips to work together. There are plenty of runners who are fine not warming up, however, there are also a lot of runners who could use this advice.
