Went to Kenya for the media preview of a new racer from Kiprun. They’re calling it a half marathon and 10k racer, but this is a rare instance where I think that the shoe can likely go longer than what the manufacturer says. I think it’s a marathon shoe. It’s got 39mm in the heel with a 4mm drop. It’s a bit of a bathtub dual foam, with a Peba core inside a supercritical TPU carrier. The plate is also unusual, in that it’s more of a J shape or a hook shape, with the silhouette of the plate following the pads of the foot (the negative space of the plate is under the arch). I enjoyed the shoe on a variety of surfaces and it’s not nearly as aggressive as Kiprun’s descriptions of the shoe made it sound. It’s cushioned yet snappy. And it’s very light. This was the first race product I’ve tried from Kiprun, but I probably won’t be giving the shoe a full review. It won’t release until later this year, and it won’t be coming to the US. However, Kiprun does have plans to start selling in the US in 2026, and if the KD900X Lab does make it stateside, I’ll revisit whether to review the shoe. In the meantime, if you have any questions about it, let me know. . Disclosures: the shoes were provided to me while I was on a media trip hosted by the brand. No one previewed my footage or my thoughts before this video published
