First run Adios Pro Evo 2. I had a speedwork session on the calendar and took the London Marathon winning shoe for a spin. Just looking at the shoe, I can tell there are some significant differences in the foam. It no longer looks like it’s been hand carved from a large block of foam. Maaaybe it’s just the coloring process that is the difference, but the foam kinda feels like there is at least some compression molding happening. The shoe certainly feels taller, but it still feels incredibly light. I enjoy the feeling that there is more foam under the forefoot, but it’s still a bit firmer of an experience than I think most people would envision for a $500 shoe (I think that’s the price).
I didn’t think the first version was a marathon shoe for me (I ran a half marathon PB in them), but I think this one could go the marathon distance. It is not for everyone though.
I didn’t get any tech sheets from Adidas on this one yet, so I’m not sure if this will have the same longevity (or lackthereof) as its predecessor. Also, I don’t particularly like the silver shimmer of this upper. It’s a purely cosmetic objection, but I think it’s weird.
Further testing: I’d like to take this for a long run with some marathon effort miles.
